Question Format Overview
Every year the exam follows a similar format:
1. Short Answer Questions
Review the assigned textbook exercises.
2. Data Segment Question (Chapter 7)
Refer to P145 of the textbook.
3. Programming Question
Example problems from lectures. Focus on Exercise 7.9, especially Exercise 7.9(1) which has appeared multiple times.
4. 8259A Initialization (Chapter 10)
- Reference the diagram on P294 (this information will be provided on the exam — no need to memorize)
- Master Examples 10.1 and 10.2; the exam uses this exact format
5. Programmable Interface Chip Initialization
- 8255A: Reference P312, master Example 11.1; exam questions are similar to Exercise 11.2
- 8253: Reference P327–P328, master the initialization programming example; practice with Exercise 11.11
